Do you ride English or Western spurs?

The use of spurs is common in all disciplines. However, they all tend to use specific types. Dressage riders generally prefer Waterford-style round balls as harrows and shorter handles, while Western riders use spurs with longer handles for harrows that rotate and have teeth. The reason behind the use of different styles of spurs in different events is that in the English seat, the rider's stirrups are usually shorter and in closer contact with the horse's barrel. In Western riding, the rider's stirrups are usually longer, their feet are more forward, and there is less space between the heel and the horse's body. Therefore, an English rider would want a spur with a short handle and more knobs at the end, rather than the wheel shovel and long handle used in Western riding.
